Here’s more DIY changes to my blog design!

Noticed the new icons on the right? Well, i sketched them out and got the husband to HTML neatly in a column!
I might amend it a little more…
Love it, and him to bits!

Here’s a map of Karama, (i’ve sketched out using free Inkscape software), a detailed idea of my few foodie trips in this location.

Red dots = Upcoming eats
Green dots = Ate&Reviewed
Yellow dots= Might visit
All red dots should turn green in 2 weekends!

Except that, tweaking is still required in order for it to be applied. The husband is helping me create a HTML code/ script so it could behave like any widget, automatically branding the
logo into place.
(Example: See photo below, lower right-hand corner)

I decided to test it out on some food photos in my previous post (Dubai EatOuts #153: THAI TERRACE)… And i’m LIKING it!
Surprising it only took less than an hour to draw it out using Inkscape software (free download), and yes i miss Photoshop ALOT but sadly isn’t installed on my husband’s laptop.
Oh hey, am uber glad to have picked out my best design this soon!

I’ve been keeping myself busy with my little hobby… Blog maintenance.
Learning to enhance bit by bit and experimenting with designs is what i want to be good at! My DIY assignment for this month was to sketch out a few watermark designs for all my food images.

Hmmph… Too many options to pick!
With some professional help from the husband, the confirmed design will be inserted into all my existing (and new) foodie photos VERY soon!

Not sure how soon, but i’m excited to start re-designing my blog -If time permits- before 2011. Other than ‘attending’ HTML & CSS lessons taught by my husband, i’ve practiced bits more by memorizing and testing the codes repeatedly…
You see, I wouldn’t want to cling onto my hubs (though he’s ever ready to assist) too much over a simple HTML dilemma, and learning on my own would do wonders for a beginner like me!
So here’s hoping that i’ll reach intermediate level by October.

Yesterday, I dug up our wedding album post… Admiring my made-to-order dress, layers of make-up, my stiff thick bundle of hair and lovey-dovey smiles….

When I paused, and wondered where did i place the hard-copy album?? I must had misplaced it somewhere during our hasty move to UAE. Ack!
Last i remembered, my mom’s the last to view it. Oh well, gotta drop mom a sms!

I paused for 10 mins and pondered about the colour scheme in this studio-sized kitchen, and i thought why not throw some primary tones to liven it this tiny space…

There are tons of red and yellow hues out there, and i decided on:
Option A: Spicy-red (back-painted glass) backsplash and a deep maroon Corian countertop/ dining table OR,
Option B: Mustard yellow and deep maroon Corian countertop/ dining table.
Well, i’m loving the yellow highlights!

One of my must-haves in my future bathroom, is a full-height glass shower cubicle!

It doesn’t have to be frosted… Crisp clear will do.

Okay i quickly sketched another living room randomly without thinking in depth about funtionality and it’s purpose.

One: Placing a cabinet high up isn’t an advantage to those who aren’t tall. And it does look tacky fitted into a sleek showcase wall unit.
Two: There’s still space for a typical furniture (ie.chair/ottoman).
Oh dear.
That’s what happens when i’m all excited sketching out ideas…

I surprised myself with a few crisp ‘Living Room’ concepts today. Maybe because weekend is around the corner…
Among my many favourites, i personally liked modern Balinese interiors, with lesser woody feeling/ finishes involved…
The sketch below highlights (in red) selections of tasteful teak furnitures, a neutral-coloured leisure sofa and, voila!

My much-loved dream living space!
